About this deal

These opening minutes feel like a self-contained movie, and this first group of victims is dispatched with ruthless efficiency.

The film begins in 1980 with Pamela Voorhees (Nana Visitor) attempting to murder her last female victim in a bid to avenge her son Jason (Derek Mears)'s death. Despite ominous warnings from the locals to stay away from 'Camp Blood,' a group of counselors at a nearby summer camp decide to explore the area where seven people were brutally slaughtered. K. fundamentally the same box set that was released in the USA this contains the first 8 movies, one from Warner and the other 7 from Universal/Paramount.It took four years for Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (* 1/2 out of *****) to make it to theaters, and the film is largely considered the worst in the series.

Part V is disgusting, ugly, contemptuous junk even when graded on the considerable bell curve I’m extending to this series. Indeed, when one thinks of “horror”, one generally thinks of characters like Freddy Krueger, Jason Vorhees, Leatherface, and Michael Meyers (the stabby one, not the Shrek one). Despite the low production budget, most of the effects blending is seamless and backgrounds are quite deep. This suggestion is exponentially accentuated by the characteristics of most of Jason’s victims, who are usually, with a few exceptions here and there, white yuppies with apparently few monetary concerns.

Black levels are good, as is shadow detail, and there is absolutely no trace of digital manipulation. No sooner has Camp Crystal Lake reopened for business then the killing spree begins again as the teens are picked off one by one. All twelve films look and sound great and their HD presentations offer a substantial upgrade over previous SD releases. Tales from the Cutting Room Floor (17:12/SD); Friday Artifacts and Collectibles (7:01/SD); and assorted original trailers. The box set will be released in a Limited Edition of only 50,000 numbered units worldwide, and includes a replica of Jason's hockey mask, an 8-page Collector's Booklet and hours of special features.

Shephard's powers originated from an abusive father and she arrives at Crystal Lake with her mother (Susan Blu) and duplicitous psychiatrist (Terry Kiser) to confront her past. before travelling back to a re-opened Camp Crystal Lake, where a fresh batch of teenagers await Jason's wrath. Events then skips to the present day with a group of teenagers set to go camping at Camp Crystal Lake, the scene of previous atrocities.Little do they know that crazed serial killer Jason is a stowaway who quickly transforms the teen-filled 'love boat' celebration into the ultimate voyage of the damned! Sure, Jason isn't the form-shifting, bullet-deflecting machine of later films in Part II but this is where he gets his knocks. However, for those completest fans who yearn for everything Friday the 13th, this new box set is nothing to scoff at. Friday the 13th is also undeniably tied in both tone and plot to the Italian Giallo films that directors like Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci shot in the ‘60s and ‘70s.

While the Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre films quickly became jokes, they undeniably sprung from notable first films that are considered by many to be part of the horror canon. It's one thing to move the mythology and story of the series forward, but Jason Goes to Hell fails at nearly every turn.Jarvis digs up a dormant Jason, and a convenient lightening strike re-animates the killer, who begins a fresh murder spree. Recently, Paramount released a somewhat-limited-edition “Ultimate Collection” for Jason’s Friday The 13 th series, and fans of the long-running franchise might be interested to know that the Friday The 13 th Ultimate Collection might be the best gift for the slasher-horror fan in your life this Christmas.
