About this deal

A well-crafted tale that brings together mystery, suspense, and the results of social, political, and systemic issues.

When Reel and Robie arrive, they find a town with a stagnant economy, an understaffed police force, and camps recruiting people with dangerous ideologies. However, Reel seems to have had a change of heart after the events in the last book and Robie is both hurt and confused about it. At the end of the previous book, Will and Jessica grew closer in their developing personal relationship outside of work. But, instead of being out of the country taking down its enemies, these two government assets are sent to rural Colorado on a much more personal mission. I'm hooked on this series, but this installment wasn't as gripping or fast paced as the previous stories. Will and Jess are government sanctioned assassins, not investigators, but in this story they will have to become investigators too. I tend to skim them looking for bits I understand but I know those who actually know something about that stuff would care passionately that he’s accurate in his descriptions. Even as a longtime Baldacci fan and as an initial fan of this particular series, I can’t find anything good to say about End Game.

Reel is still a slow to emerge character for me, whose past is a jumble and present seems quite focused on the mission. Why then are we supposed to believe that "our" people aren't going to join the ranks of the dearly departed? As they delve deeper into the mystery behind Blue Man’s disappearance, they find themselves facing an adversary who has a home and firepower advantage.Overall, it’s a very enjoyable journey for the reader to follow their journey and try to solve the mystery before they do.
