About this deal

Although most would describe me as a croissant, I am now consciously looking for what others are doing to stand out: how they share information, provide introductions and invite others into their world. Expanded Critical Thinking Activities challenge learners to evaluate, analyze, and synthesize information that helps prepare them for the workplace and academic life.

Most people wouldn’t invite 100 people for dinner without working out the menu and making all the dishes several times to be sure they are the best you can present. Doing so helps to develop a following of people who believe in what you’re saying and will keep talking about it even when you’re not in the room.

Dorie is exceptionally talented at synthesizing a lot of information and surfacing sometimes counter-intuitive advice that -- if applied -- can be a true differentiator. The book really does make one feel that our dreams are just blueprints, waiting to be build into reality. To get noticed, create true job security, and make a difference in the world, you have to make sure your ideas get noticed.

The more tactical details required to implement are not covered, but for the most part, the people this book is aimed at already have the maturity and skills to find the answers or obtain the help they need. It’s a book about how to develop an idea and a voice powerful enough to deserve a powerful following and real influence. Anything that results in turning people back to reading is always a positive in my book (pun intended! A keynote speaker who teaches executive education for Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and Columbia Business School, Clark has been described by the New York Times as an “expert at self-reinvention and helping others make changes in their lives. In this wonderful and timely book, aimed at older primary or younger secondary school children, author Jamia Wilson and Andrea Pippins give a series of practical tips and explanations about ways that we can live our best lives.

Part of the magic of the whole reading process is allowing your own imagination to take flight and immersing yourself in a fictitious world.
