Easier said than done, but the next time I’m in a ‘heated debate’ I’m going to try to remember this advice. This book goes over his childhood living in a small town in Alabama to his three years at Auburn University. However many readers, including myself, were probably hoping more for the dirt on former teammates, coaches and media staff.

He talks about the challenges and benefits of meditation, and gave some insight that helped me understand meditation better. Maybe I just read this book at a low moment when I needed it but I often felt that the book was talking directly at me, helping me with areas that I was struggling with.

Rather than taking your own sojourn to a life filled with rituals and practice far removed from normal society, learn how to achieve your own inner calm with this self-help book. The more people who read Lindeblad's story and his thinking and for themselves think, ok I'm not going to chuck it all in and run off to a monastery but I can use some of these ideas and principles, the better. The word “responsibility” just sounds like something we must do or carry no matter what, regardless of who we are, how we feel or think. I personally I enjoyed the book because I wanted a look a that process behind his antics, and learn more about him as a person. Björn moves between monasteries throughout his life as a monk and it was interesting to see how they were all so different.I don’t trust life inherently, but I do trust my capacity to change, because I know how much I’ve changed – or rather learnt to understand myself better so I can stop repeating unhealthy behaviour. Here I am, regularly feeling sorry for myself (again) when I intermittently fast and eat a “strict” diet. I have found more emotional freedom ever since I learnt to examine the reality of my emotions at a distance, so I deeply related to that statement. The book is full of wisdom and wonderful stories, many of which I had heard but I still enjoyed listening to again and pondering on their messages.
